SAVE ON PARTY DECOR - USE THESE ITEMS YOU ALREADY OWN

Updated: May 19

We are all about making a beautiful party on a budget and we are here to help you too! We came up with this list of top 10 things you can pull from your home to cut back on decor costs!

1. LEFTOVER PARTY SUPPLIES

This is huge! Don't throw out party supplies....EVER. We all have "party bins" in our basements, full of leftover party supplies! When decorating for a party, we pull the supplies that match up to our current party theme and go to town decorating! This saves an incredible amount of money in the long run. If it's salvageable, salvage it. If it's reusable, reuse it. It's time...start a party bin! Check out the sampling from one of our bins below :)

2. LINENS

Linens can be used for lots of different things. We have used tablecloths to cover ugly tables, as backdrops or to hide areas of our houses that we don't want our guests to see during parties. You don't need to invest in fancy linens - a flat sheet or plastic tablecloth from the dollar store will work great if you are looking to drape or create a backdrop. You can then easily accessorize your new blank space!

3. FURNITURE

This is where it gets fun! We have been known to use sofas, chairs, full shelving units, side tables and even a full size love sac from our houses! It isn't unusual to see us wheeling bar carts and sofas down the sidewalk :) (Imagine what our other neighbors think. HAHA!) If you can safely move a piece of furniture to fill an empty space, make more seating or add a table, DO IT! So much more cost effective than buying new items to add to your party!

4. ELEVATIONS

This is a great area to think outside the box! Books, an upside down bowl, cake stands, wooden crates - anything that will be able to hold whatever it is you want to elevate! Especially if you are draping a tablecloth over the top of it, it doesn't matter what it looks like!

5. LIGHTING

Don't neglect the lighting! From twinkle lights, outdoor bulb lights, up-lighting, or lamps from your home - lighting can completely transform a space!

6. SERVING PLATTERS

Cake platters, serving bowls, serving plates, chargers - pull them all out! Use all white or mix and match for your desired theme. Food display matters!

7. VASES

Vases are a great way to incorporate texture and color to your party. Don't run out and buy them! Grab all the mismatched, old ones you have stashed somewhere or even use mason jars. You can spray paint them easily to match your theme. The first image below is using a glass trifle bowl as the vase - get creative and make the items you already own work for what you need!

8. PLANTS

Everyone became a plant lady during the covid shutdown right?! Oh, just us? Well, if you have plants in your house, use them! They are great to add a touch of nature, texture, and fill up the small and empty spaces!

9. BEVERAGE DISPENSERS

A punch bowl, a carafe, pitcher or dispenser with a nozzle. These are great to use for batch beverages and easy to refill throughout the party!

10. PHOTOS AND FRAMES

Photos are a wonderful way to add personalization to your party. Frames can easily double as signs if you don't have photos to add to them! You can also easily spray paint them to match your theme.

Do you have other go-to items that you use when decorating for a party? We would love to hear about them in the comments below!
