THE PERFECT SUMMER SANGRIA
Updated: Jun 27, 2021
There is nothing better than a light, refreshing cocktail on a hot summer day! This summer sangria is the perfect treat and a great option when you're hosting a gathering.

We took inspiration from the recipe created by All She Cooks. We would have followed the recipe to a T, but we couldn't find the correct rum, so we improvised and it was seriously delicious! A traditional sangria includes red wine, rum, simple syrup and fruit (typically berries). Our cocktail is a summer sangria, which means we used white wine instead of red. We chose a dry Sauvignon Blanc as our base, used a Mango Rum (this is where we strayed from the recipe, she calls for Pineapple Rum), club soda and added a bunch of tropical fruit. No simple syrup here, the fruity rum was all we needed for some sweetness.

Fresh pineapple, oranges, kiwi and limes created the perfect tropical flavors we were looking for and added bright and beautiful colors to our pitcher. Let the fruit sit for a few hours in the fridge for added flavor, then serve in stemless wine glasses when ready!
INGREDIENTS
1 cup pineapple, fresh and cubed
2 oranges, peeled and sliced
2 kiwis, peels and sliced
1 lime, cut into wedges
1 bottle (750ml) white wine (we prefer a dryer wine)
1 cup mango rum
12oz club soda (can substitute lemon-lime soda for a sweeter drink)

INSTRUCTIONS
Cut the pineapple, oranges, kiwis into bite-sized pieces
Slice the lime into wedges
Combine the fruit with the white wine, mango rum and club soda in a large pitcher
Chill for at least 2 hours
Serve in a stemless wine glass, making sure to scoop some of the fruit into each glass for extra fruit flavor (and to make it pretty!)
