MATCHA: 2 WAYS ON TUESDAY

January is for new beginnings, a time to start all over again! With that we wanted to try something a bit different in our beverage department (and it's dry January). Dry January is a time on Jasmine that we can give our bodies a rest from all the holiday overindulgences. Everything from Halloween Parties, Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving get togethers, Christmas (our favorite Progressive Dinner, take a look at this amazing get together here) and New Years. We also loved finding all the TikTok's where people were doing dry January, or dryish January, or just plain making fun of the whole idea. We don't judge - whatever works for you, works for us!
Like most Moms, we love our alone time to get out of the house! We envision the perfect Saturday morning of going to Target, grabbing a Starbucks while we shop and losing ourselves in that store for two plus hours and spending way too much money. We could probably do this everyday, but grabbing our favorite latte everyday is just not in our budget and lets not forget to mention that those drinks normally include ingredients that have way too much sugar and calories! Like seriously, have you ever looked at your Starbucks latte ingredients? It's absurd!
So, no worries, we are not giving up our excuse to go to Starbucks, but it is just not practical as an everyday thing. This was a perfect reason to branch out and try our hand at some lattes that are not filled with a ton of added sugar, a hefty price tag and enough calories to count as a meal. In this Toast to Tuesday we tried a hot matcha latte as well as iced latte version! We loved both!

Don't get us wrong, we are still not over our cup or two of morning joe. Our favorite time to enjoy this latte has been in the afternoon. It feels like a sweet treat and step up from our normal afternoon cup of coffee or hot tea. The frothy top of the latte is our favorite. It is sweet and smooth and gives all the good feels. So grab your cozy socks and sit down with a good book if you choose the hot version. If the iced is more your fancy, then sit down relax on your patio with an glass filled to the brim with ice and a good magazine and your shades on!

Below you will find the two recipes we have been loving! Our particular favorite is the warm matcha latte on a cold afternoon!
HEALTHY WARM MATCHA LATTE
This recipe includes some very yummy ingredients. First up a non dairy milk...our favorite is Califia coconut almond milk! We find ours at our local Aldi grocer. If you haven't noticed, we LOVE us some Aldi. It is a great store for shopping on a budget and you never know what you will find (specifically in the aisle of shame). It is so good in cereal, smoothies, with Oreo cookies...really whatever you normally would enjoy a cup of milk with. It also includes pure maple syrup which you can also get at Aldi for a great price. Have you ever realized how many clean/sweet recipes call for maple syrup? We have been putting it in cookie recipes, oatmeal, smoothies, dressings, the list goes on. We love it as a real ingredient sweetener as opposed to sugar. You will also find staples you probably already have in your cabinet like vanilla extract and a can of coconut cream. Monkfruit sweetener, and then of course the matcha and collagen were all ingredients that we don't normally have on hand but purchased easily on Amazon to stock up our pantry!
(we changed this recipe up ever so slightly by adding Califia coconut almond milk and monkfruit sweetener, original recipe can be found here)
1 1/2 cup Califia Coconut Almond Milk
1-2 tsp Maple Grove Organic Farms Syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
1 tsp coconut cream the top layer from a full fat can of coconut milk
1 scoop vital proteins collagen
1 tsp FGO Organic Matcha
1 tablespoon Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener
Heat milk in a small pot for about 2-3 minutes. You want to bring it to a steam and keep it there for several seconds. Remove from heat, and add to blender.
Pour in the rest of your ingredients, blend and drink right away!
EASY ICED MATCHA LATTE
1/4 cup boiling hot water
2 teaspoons of FGO Organic Matcha
2-3 teaspoons of Maple Grove Farms Organic Syrup
2 cups of your favorite non-dairy milk, We love this Califia Coconut Almond
Combine hot water with matcha; whisk until powder is dissolved; add in sweetner
Add ice to 2 large cups; divide matcha mixture between two cups pouring over ice
Add 1 cup of non-dairy milk to each cup; stir and enjoy!
