HOT WHITE RUSSIAN COCKTAIL

Updated: Nov 30, 2021

Sitting here looking out the window on a cold late November morning, all of the leaves are gone from the trees and it looks like there was a dusting of snow last night. That's right - we said snow, it's that time of year again in the Northeast and not sure if we are all ready for it....so with that thought in mind, we wanted to share with you what might as well be an "adult" hot chocolate.

A hot white russian cocktail served in a low ball cup with whipped cream topping it. It is sitting on a bed of evergreens and candy canes, in front of a "tis the season" sign. Along with the cocktail are the ingredients that make it, Kahlua, vodka and a bag of coffee beans.

This is the perfect drink for the upcoming winter season! Think after you pick out the tree, or after going sledding with the kiddos (or adults) in the neighborhood. A great drink to warm the insides and should pretty much be one of your regulars this time of year, just keep in mind that it packs a punch.

This is a fairly simple recipe, and it can be dressed up or down depending on your liking with some whipped cream. But let's be honest, go with the whipped cream and you will not be disappointed :) You can play around with the strength by adjusting the amount of vodka you add as well so all in all you really can't mess this one up.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 oz. Freshly brewed coffee

  • 2 oz. Kahlua

  • 2 oz. Heavy cream (we used 2% and it was creamy & perfect)

  • 1 oz. Vodka

  • Whipped cream for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Using a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients and heat until warm. Being careful not to boil.

  2. Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream and ENJOY!

We made this the day after Thanksgiving and it was the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. We added a candy cane for a bit more holiday flair and made a double batch to sip on while we put our tree up. Felt a little bit like a kid again until I tried to stand up and was a little woozy on my feet (hahaha). Give it a try and let us know what you think!
