  • Tuesday on Jasmine

When trying to decide on a cocktail for Earth Day we knew we wanted something different and fun. It's not that easy to be creative all of the time, sometimes those juices dry up. Between everyday Mom duty and work, we are all busy, so it's important to have a way to recharge and get those creative juices flowing again. You need to love the things you do, how you spend your down time, your side hustle, your hobbies. Making sure to take time for you will most certainly get you back on the right track! Fast forward to Earth Day research, like we said, we wanted something different and we for sure found it!!

An earth day themed cocktail served on a white platter with rocks around it. The blue drink has green cut outs placed on the glass to resemble the world.

We spotted this cocktail on The Tipsy Bartender blog and fell in love. It's obviously perfect for Earth Day, but came with a pretty serious warning....and we quote "for folks who want to try their hand at a seriously advanced vodka cocktail...." What could go wrong, right???

Ok, first off sometimes you know when you see something and you're like yeah I can do that...that is pretty much our first thought for everything. We'll figure it out. We get by with a little help from our friends, for sure! Not being the most artistic Mom on Jasmine, I rely a lot on my boyfriend for behind the scenes Tuesday on Jasmine assistance. You've seen his handy work before at our Bottle Bash Tournament and our Football party - really all of the husbands are a huge help. We couldn't do what we do without their support - so a huge shoutout to them and our kiddos!

Just by looking I am sure you know what we needed his assistance with - the garnish, if you will, of this drink is a lime peel cut to resemble the continents. So cool, right? However, we are pretty sure is the reason this was considered an "advanced" recipe. He really did such a great job and so precise with the perfectly shaped continents.

This tasty mixed drink combines coconut vodka, blue curacao, lemon juice, and lemon lime soda, and will really knock your socks off with the added touch of lime peel continents. For sure give it a try for Earth Day!

  • Coconut vodka

  • Blue curacao

  • Lemon juice

  • Lemon-Lime soft drink

  1. Fill a glass with ice and add coconut vodka, blue curacao, lemon juice and lemon lime soda. Stir well to mix. Set aside.

  2. Using scissors or a small knife roughly cut the shapes of the continents out of lime peel. Place shapes inside a round glass and pack with crushed ice.

  3. Pour mix into glass and serve.

  • You definitely want to use crushed ice to pack the lime peel against the side of your glass. We tried with regular cubes first and it didn't work as well. With no crushed ice on hand, we pulled out the Ninja and started chopping...we ended up with snow, after a few tries we figured it out hahaha.

  • We used a steak knife to cut the lime peel. It worked well.

  • To cut the continents out, we first drew a mock up of them and cut it out. We then used that to trace onto the lime peel then cut. The hardest part of this is making them small enough to fit in the glass and keeping them all relatively the same size.

Absolutely delicious beverage, highly suggest you try it! And let's be honest, the continents are not necessary, they just tie it into Earth Day better. The drink itself was very easy to mix, there are no crazy layers or anything wonky you need to do. The hardest part is cutting out the continents. After the first drink it doesn't matter anyway, hahaha. Give it a try with or without the continents and let us know what you think!
